Summary:
A young, distraught woman put her daughter up for adoption. But as the years passed, she married and had a family. The guilt and remorse of putting her daughter up for adoption always weighed on her heart. Fourteen years passed by since the birth of her daughter, and there was not a day that she didn’t wonder what her daughter is like and who she is? Today she lies awake, haunted by her actions, hoping that her daughter is happy and with a good family.
The woman’s husband wanted to alleviate his wife’s fears. He thought if he could locate the daughter, and get confirmation that she was happy and healthy, it would ease his wife’s guilt to some degree. The husband contacted ICS to see if we could obtain a photograph of the daughter, and get some information as to her family situation. The client spoke with a case analyst and had a free consultation. One of the major areas of concern that needed to be addressed was the motives of the client. ICS needed to be certain that this was merely a way of verifying that the daughter is happy, and not an attempt to disrupt or harm the child.
The Case Analyst discussed with the client ways to approach this matter with the utmost sensitivity. The primary objective was for the investigator to obtain a current photograph of the subject. Through investigation techniques it was discovered that the subject was competitive in a sport. It was further determined that she would be participating in an upcoming event. An investigator was assigned and was able to obtain photographs of the subject on the playing field.
Conclusion:
ICS was able to provide the client with information that the subject appeared to be very healthy, active, and with a loving family. ICS was able to help ease the pain of a broken heart by locating the adopted child. They also did a background check on the new mother and it came up clean. The birth mother was happy knowing that her daughter was fine, and at last she was able to sleep again.
